- Triads -
|
|
This exercise involves major, minor,
diminished and augmented triads. A reference note (ex: C) is played before
the triad. Once the reference is established (I'll say which note the
reference is) a triad will be played that will include the reference (ex:
Ab major). The goal of the exercise is to correctly understand if the
reference is the tonic, the third or the fifth of the triad that has been
played and to name and spell the chord accordingly ( if the reference
is the note C and the triad played is Ab major the correct answer would
be that C sounds like the third of a major triad and since C is the third
the triad would be Ab major: Ab, C, Eb). The triads will always be played
harmonically, in different octaves and always in root position; if you
need extra time you can pause the playback at the end of each chord. As
usual, the answer sheet is provided for you so that you will be able to
correct your mistakes. Use a pencil of a different color to mark them.
In time, this will give you an idea of your progress. Keep all the exercises
in a folder so that they will be available for review.
