Guitar Night: Rock and Pop

Announcement to the Guitar Department Faculty and Students

On Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 8:15 PM, Guitar Department faculty Mike Ihde, Abby Aronson-Zocher and Jon Finn will host Berklee Guitar Department’s “Guitar Night: Rock and Pop 2009” concert at the Berklee Performance Center.

The concert will feature selected student-led ensembles that represent the best Rock/Pop guitarists at Berklee. Many students consider it to be one of their highest personal achievements to be chosen for this performance.

This year we would like to continue to broaden the scope of our concert by including a wide variety of styles within the Rock and Pop realm. Ultimately, we will choose the submissions that are of the highest overall quality. If you think you may have something unique, special and most importantly guitar-centered, we would love to hear it.

The 3 parts of the Application Process are:
1. Upload a live video of your band performing the 2 songs you have chosen for the concert to your youtube account then add them to: http://www.youtube.com/group/berkleegnrp

2. Have your teacher submit a short letter of recommendation.

3. Submit the Application Form

The deadline for submission will be Friday, February 6th by 5pm. If accepted, the students will be notified by Friday, February 20th. No submitted materials will be returned nor evaluated.

Faculty may submit recommendations via e-mail or phone mail to Abby, Jon or Mike:

Mike Ihde (x2241, FB-446 or mihde@berklee.edu)
Abby Aronson Zocher (x8269, FB-28 or azocher@berklee.edu)
Jon Finn (x8173, FB-19 or jfinn@berklee.edu)

Candidates may submit their application to Abby, Jon or Mike via their faculty mailboxes or e-mail.

Candidates must include contact phone number, Berklee mailbox, student ID number,
e-mail address, a list of the performers on the submitted video and the song titles. Click on links for the application form and FAQ.
Thanks and good luck!

The Guitar.Com Challenge

D’Addario & Company, Inc. is the owner of the URL http:/www.Guitar.Com. Guitar.com is the premier URL trade name for anything related to the guitar and guitar music.

At this time it is not a successful site and needs to be redesigned, re-launched and sustained properly. D’Addario wishes to re-invent Guitar.Com to make it a premier, go-to information portal for anything related to guitars and music. We are looking to create a team of 5 music education, music performance, music business, business or IT students to brain storm with our marketing and executive team to create a business strategy and plan for this entity.

Anyone interested can submit a resume for consideration. The project could run the length of one semester, approximately 3 to 4 months, beginning just after the first of the year. It would require a commitment of two 5 hour days per week at the D’Addario headquarters in Farmingdale and homework of about 10 hours per week. Participants will be selected before December 15, 2008.

The 5 selected participants would be paid a wage of $12 per hour for this project.

Anyone interested in applying for this position should submit their resumes to:
James D’Addario, CEO
D’Addario & Company, Inc.
jad@daddario.com

Direct all correspondence to the email address above.
