At Berklee College of Music, we foster students’ creativity and artistry by educating the whole person. We believe it is important to prepare students to excel in music, and, at the same time, to prepare students for a successful future in today's global society. It is not surprising, then, that music and Liberal Arts are partners in Berklee's curriculum. Our relevant and distinctive Liberal Arts curriculum complements the study of music and informs students' thinking about issues that have shaped our time.
At Berklee, a comprehensive college education is achieved by broad study in the Liberal Arts in partnership with in-depth study in music. Berklee’s Liberal Arts Department is designed to empower students with broad knowledge and transferable skills, and a strong sense of value, ethics, and civic engagement.
The Liberal Arts Department offers students the intellectual foundation for the creativity and artistry that shape their experience and communication of music in their chosen profession.
