Answer ONE of the following questions, addressing the endings of Idoru, Machinal, Frankenstein, Metropolis, White Noise, and Solaris as well as at least 1 poem we read this semester, and (if you choose) putting the texts into the contexts provided by the appropriate aesthetic movement (Romanticism, Expressionism, Postmodernism).

You can choose the length of your answer from a minimum of one (substantial) paragraph to a maximum of 3-4 page essay answer.

 
  Techno-icons Montage: From Dr. Frankenstein's lab and Metropolis to cyberspace . . . 1) In the texts, does humankind control technology, or does it control us?

2) At the end of the texts, how have the characters been shaped by the technology they created or interacted with?

3) What dreams about controlling nature are expressed in the texts?
