In groups of 2-4, research and prepare a 10-15 minute creative presentation for the class. Useat least 3 primary sources.
Your presentation should include:
- clear connection to the major themes of the course
- class involvement
- visuals
- handout (think creatively: a front page of a newspaper, a program for a concert, etc)
- music
- participation from each member of the group
- bibliography
NOTE: Do NOT stand up there with notecards and read off them one at a time. Instead, think creatively: a skit, a game, a trial, a newspaper, a demonstration, etc.
SOME IDEAS FOR TOPICS:
- Scopes Monkey Trial - popular dances - Armory Show of 1913 - life in Boston in the 1920s - a specific artist (visual, literary, music, performance, etc) - fashion - politics - one day - radio - newspapers - Sacco & Venzetti - one of the Harlem Renaissance magazines (Opportunity, The Crisis, The Chicago Defender) - skyscrapers - Lindbergh -
A 1-2 page Critical Response on your group topic is due when you do your group presentation. It can explore a thesis statement that addresses how your topic connects to one of the major concepts of the course.
